About the scheme:

Essential maintenance works are planned for Maldon Road Bridge which carries the A1060 over the A1114 (Essex Yeomanry Way) in Great Baddow.

This will involve removing and replacing the current waterproof membrane on the bridge deck and resurfacing the road.   These works are important for the long-term durability of the bridge.

Repairs and resurfacing works will also be undertaken to the two roundabouts located either side of the bridge as well as the A1114 entry and exit slip roads.

Arrangements are in place to undertake the majority of the works under temporary overnight road closures to minimise local delays, however some full time (24 hours a day) road closures will be necessary during the programme.

Motorists will be required to use local alternative routes and diversions during closure periods (See Document Section below).

Please note that the work programme includes a period of time needed for the materials to cure.  During this time there will be reduced activity on site.

The works:

Monday 16 April to Thursday 19 April inclusive – overnight road closures only 8pm to 5am.

Friday 20 April (8pm) - Monday 23 April (5am) – full time road closure (24 hours a day).

Monday 23 April to Sunday 29 April inclusive - overnight road closures only 8pm to 5am.

We anticipate the road will be fully open Monday 30 April, 5am.

Please note that these works are subject to suitable weather conditions.  Any changes to the programme will be reflected on local signage and this webpage.

What is involved and how may it affect you:

All closure periods will affect the A1114 Essex Yeomanry Way entry and exit slip roads as well as the two roundabouts either side of the bridge on Maldon Road.

Advance warning signs will be in place prior to the works and local diversions will operational during the closures.

Access will be maintained for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists.

Baddow Hall Avenue residents will be supported by the on site traffic management team, however access may be delayed depending on the operations being undertaken at the time.

Emergency services and bus operators have been informed of the works to allow them to put alternative arrangements in place.

We would encourage motorists to allow extra time and plan journeys during these works.

Further information:

We aim to keep residents informed of progress on the scheme by providing updates on this webpage, on site signage and the @essexhighways twitter feed.
