About the works

Main improvements works were completed in Autumn 2018 on the Chelmer Village Way cycleway scheme.

The route runs from the roundabout at Cuton Hall Lane and New Dukes Way to the roundabout at the A138 Chelmer Road via a series of roundabouts that provide access to residential and retail areas as well as a number of schools.

The scheme closed one of the gaps in the cycling network by linking the network to the west of Howard Drive to the segregated footway/cycleway that ended at the entrance to Brook End Gardens to the north of Hollis Lock.

Footway widening to create a new cycleway were undertaken and improvements made to the Village Gate bus stop, crossing points, signage and minor changes made to street lighting.

This scheme has been delivered as part of the Chelmsford City Growth Package.  For information about other schemes considered please visit Chelmsford City Growth Package.
