Priority One resurfacing – changes to planned works

Since launching this autumn, the Priority One programme of works has seen over 40 full resurfacing schemes completed, as well as hundreds of vegetation, drainage, road marking, signage repair and jetting works.

The largest single investment into Highways Investment we have made, the £25million Priority One programme has allowed us to fully resurface those areas that need it, rather than simply repair defects, providing a more robust long-term solution.

Over the coming week, works will continue to progress at pace across the county, with 5-10 resurfacing projects taking place each week.

To deliver this large number of jobs, we have developed a detailed programme, setting out when each works will happen and the factors impacting each jobs.

Alongside gaining the necessary permits, each job requires detailed planning to enable it to get to site and can be subject to change.

In recent days we have seen works impacted by the weather, emergency utility work, traffic incidents and lack of access. When a particular job is impacted in this way, then we will look to reschedule it as soon as we can early in the new year, or if necessary we will look to swap it with other jobs if this is the most efficient solution.

This does mean at times, that the dates set out in letters you receive may be incorrect. If this is the case, then please keep an eye on the local signage and our website www.essexhighways.org/priority-one. Please also be assured that you will be sent an updated letter with the new dates as soon as these are confirmed.

If you have any questions on any aspect of the Priority One works please email priorityone@essexhighways.org.
