A Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) is a legal order. It enables the county council, as the highway authority, to manage traffic in the county. Examples of TROs includes parking restrictions, speed limits, one-way streets, weight restrictions, no right/left turns and loading bays. The following is a list of recent traffic regulation order proposals which are currently under consultation. Please forward any comments or objections by email.
This proposal is to remove a small length of 'Permit Holders Parking', so as to implement ‘No Waiting Mon-Fri 1pm-2pm’ on Forest Edge, Buckhurst Hill

This proposal is to carry out amendments to the pedestrian crossing and cycle route at A132 East Mayne and Christopher Martin Road and also provide a new toucan crossing and carry out alterations to existing traffic signals and current toucan crossing.

A request has been received from Basildon Borough Council to close Wickford High Street to motor vehicles on Saturdays to facilitate a weekly market in the High Street. Funding acquired by Basildon Borough Council has facilitated this opportunity and the trial period will enable an informed assessment to be made as to the impacts for residents, businesses and road users.
The County Council is proposing to implement and introduce a 20mph zone to reduce vehicular speeds and improve the pedestrian environment on various roads on the Chesterwell Development, Myland in the Borough of Colchester.
This proposal seeks to implement a bus gate on the Unnamed Road Off Rickstones Road, Witham in the District of Braintree
This proposal is Changes to the road layout outside the Bus, and surrounding area Rail Stations to enable the formation of a sustainable transport hub. This includes removal of the subway outside the Rail Station, replaced with improved surface crossings and connections between the Rail station and the town centre, creating an attractive gateway to the town centre.

Following a successful Department bid Essex County Council has partnered with SPIN to trial for a maximum of a 12 month period permitting electric scooters to use road spaces restricted for certain vehicle classes and types encouraging the promotion of alternative travel measures in line with Government guidance to ease the burden on the transport network and provide additional capacity.
