Money-saving tips for travelling around on an e-scooter in Essex

Our Safer Greener Healthier campaign aims to increase the number of people travelling sustainably across the county, particularly for shorter journeys.

This is why we’re working with commercial partner Tier Mobility who are currently delivering the Essex e-scooter trial in Basildon, Chelmsford and Colchester. With over 1.3 million rides undertaken to date since the trial launched two years ago, e-scootering offers a cheap travel mode.

Unlock an e-scooter using the Tier app for just £1. Then it costs just 15p a mile so why not give it a go? Tier also offer discounts for regular users. For example, 150 minutes of rides costs £19.99 a month.

The UK Access Scheme

UK Access riders benefit from 50% off all trips for 6 months, subject to providing proof of participation in one of the concessionary pricing programmes listed below. Access is renewable throughout the duration of eligibility, as determined by the concessionary pricing programme. This offer cannot be combined with other offers or discounts.

How to apply

Step one - Make sure you have your relevant card or certificate in hand, as well as a device to take a photo of it. Capture the front & back and a selfie with you holding the card.
Step two - Fill out the form and upload your photos. You should also download the free TIER mobile app in your preferred app store. Please make sure to use the same name and email address as your form.
Step three - Tier will process your request within 24 hours and let you know if/when you are validated by email. You can then enjoy the UK Access Scheme with TIER.
