The A120 at Galleys Corner roundabout is severely over-capacity at peak times and this has a significant detrimental impact on the movement of people and goods along the A120 in the wider area.

Created jointly with Braintree District Council, the proposed Braintree Future Transport Strategy focusses on Braintree town, looking at how people travel, the transport challenges and opportunities in the town, and sets out a vision and objectives to help guide future developments.

A key link into Braintree, it has been identified that there are a number of conflict points that deter cyclists from using the route despite the existence of an off-road cycleway. The planned cycle enhancements are aimed at assisting both cyclists and pedestrians and encouraging greater usage.

Following an inspection of Stone Bridge, a lane restriction is being introduced managed by temporary traffic lights as a safety measure.

Sturmer Station Bridge is a two-span brick arch structure which carries the single carriageway B1061 Water Lane over Stour Brook. Footways are not provided over the structure.
