Proposed temporary closure of Maypole Road
About the scheme
As part the planning permission granted by Maldon District Council for the Westcombe Park housing development (application 15/00419/OUT and APP/X1545/W/19/3230267), a new relief road will be constructed between Langford and Broad Street Green in Heybridge.
Countryside properties are responsible for the works and will be employing Walsh Contracting and FM Conway to carry out construction activities on their behalf.
How it may affect you
Roadworks will be carried out in phases, with traffic management reviewed and adjusted where necessary according to the activities being undertaken. Advertised dates may be subject to change if the programme is affected by poor weather or if unexpected issues arise.
A left right staggered junction will be constructed on Maypole Road, which will eventually form part of the relief road between Langford Road and Broad Street Green.
To facilitate the construction of the junction a total closure of Maypole Road (24 hours a day, 7 days a week) closed on Monday 25 July 2022 and is due to reopen on Monday 5 September 2022 (subject to no unexpected delays being incurred).
Broad Street Green
A new roundabout will be constructed at Broad Street Green. It is currently being built off-line adjacent to the road, however during the latter stages overnight road closures will be required to construct the connections to the existing road. The road closure is currently planned for early October 2022.
During the road closure on Broad Street Green buses will be escorted through the closure.
Resident Access during road closures
Access will be provided to properties within a closed section of road. All other vehicles are required to observe the road closure and follow local diversions in place. No through-access will be provided.
During the closure of Maypole Road in Heybridge, Crescent Road will be accessible from Holloway Road. No access will be possible from the B1018 Langford Road/Heybridge Approach Roundabout.
Please note that the programme may be subject to change as the works progress.
Countryside properties will be responsible for informing local residents and businesses of key information and changes as they arise. Details will be reflected on this webpage when arrangements have been confirmed.
