About the scheme

Arrangements have been made to renew the traffic signals at the junction of B1352 High Street, B1414 Kingsway, Harwich.

The works

Works are due to start on Monday 3 February 2020 and expected to take approximately three weeks to complete.

We will be replacing the traffic signals at the junction before they become unreliable and fail to work properly and will be installing new extra low voltage equipment which will help reduce our carbon footprint. The pedestrian facilities will also be upgraded to puffin crossings.

What is involved and how it may affect you

Works will be carried out from 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. Lane restrictions will be required during working hours and will be managed by temporary traffic signals to provide to a safe working area while operatives are on site.

During non-working hours, traffic management restrictions will be lifted where possible to allow the temporary traffic lights to work in a similar way to the existing signals to control traffic at the junction.

Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times and for safety, we propose to install temporary controlled pedestrian crossings across High Street and Kingsway.

Further information

Please note that the programme may be subject to change if affected by poor weather or if unexpected issues arise.

We aim to keep residents and businesses updated via this webpage and site signage.  Information will also be shared with local parish councils.
