B1007 High Street, Billericay - traffic signal crossing renewal 

About the scheme

Arrangements have been made to replace two traffic signal crossings on B1007 High Street, Billericay. One is located outside the library and second by the junction of Alma Link.

The purpose of the work is to renew these pedestrian facilities as they are nearing the end of their life expectancy, to improve the reliability of the traffic signals and better serve the needs of pedestrians.

The Works

The works will involve the removing the old pelican crossing traffic signal equipment and replacing with new puffin crossings.

What is involved and how it may affect you

Works are planned to start on Monday 21 October 2019 and are anticipated to take approximately two weeks to complete.

To minimise congestion in the area, work will be carried out overnight between the hours of 7pm and 5am.  During working hours it will be necessary to have temporary traffic lights in place to support lane closures that will be necessary for the work to be conducted in a safe manner. Traffic management will remain in place during the day to assist pedestrians cross the road, but both lanes will be open to vehicles to keep traffic flowing.

We appreciate these works may cause temporary inconvenience to residents and businesses for which we would like to apologise.
