Powers Hall End in Witham reopened to vehicles on Friday 28th October 2022, one week earlier than programmed following the completion of works to Chipping Hill Bridge and footbridge.
During the road closure, essential repairs were made to both the structure's brickwork and the footbridge, which was re-decked. We also took an opportunity during the road closure to carry out repairs to the approach rails, clear vegetation, improve and clear gullies as well as refresh road markings.

Plans are being made for works to take place on Chipping Hill Bridge which carries Powers Hall End over the River Brain in Witham. The works are due to begin on Monday 26 September with the support of a road closure.
Essential repairs will be made to the structure's brickwork and the footbridge will be re-decked.
The works are due to commence on Monday 26 September 2022 with the support of a road closure at the bridge which will continue until the repairs are complete during early November 2022. Please note that dates may be subject to change if poor weather or unexpected issues arise which affect the work programme.
Signed diversions will be in place during the road closure as no vehicles will be permitted to pass over the structure until the works are complete. Vehicular access to properties will be maintained from either side of the bridge via the diversions that will be in place.
Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout, with temporary pedestrian diversions over the road bridge during certain activities. Please be aware that there may occasions, for example when materials are received, when it may be necessary to ask pedestrians to wait a short period until it is safe for them to pass through the area.
We appreciate these works may cause some local inconvenience however would like to assure you that it is important they are carried out and efforts. Please support us by taking additional care travelling in the area, allowing extra travelling time, and observing signage in place.
