About the scheme 

Work started 26 July 2017 to strengthen the Victorian structure after inspectors found one of the brick arches underneath the bridge to be suffering from deterioration. 

Structural repairs to Salary Bridge on Elmstead Road, Colchester were completed on 8 September 2017, ahead of schedule.

Operatives were able to complete the bridge improvement works using a temporary lane restriction rather than closing the road.
