Highway Schemes List (Show/Hide)
Arrangements have been made to renew the traffic signals at B1013 Hockley Road / High Street / Websters Way, Rayleigh.
Works are due to start on Monday 6 January 2020 and expected to take approximately three weeks to complete. We will be replacing the traffic signals at the junction before they become unreliable and fail to work properly and will be installing new extra low voltage equipment which will help reduce our carbon footprint. The pedestrian facilities will also be upgraded from a pelican to puffin crossing.
The majority of the works will be carried out overnight between 7pm and 5am, Monday to Friday with lane restrictions in place managed by temporary traffic signals to provide a safe working area while operatives are on site.During the daytime, traffic management restrictions will be lifted where possible to allow the temporary traffic lights to work in a similar way to the existing signals to control traffic at the junction. We currently anticipate that a limited number of full road closures of the High Street will be required overnight to allow work to take place across the carriageway. These have been provisionally book overnight during week commencing Monday 13th January 2020, with the road reopened following each shift.Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times and for safety a temporary controlled crossing will be installed across Hockley Road and Websters Way.
Please note that the programme may be subject to change if affected by poor weather or if unexpected issues arise.
We aim to keep residents and businesses updated via this webpage and site signage. Information will also be shared with local parish councils.
