Gablehays Bridge, White Hart Lane, Springfield

About the scheme:

Waterproofing works are planned for Gablehays Bridge on White Hart Lane, Springfield.  This will involve removing and replacing the current waterproof membrane on the bridge deck and resurfacing the road.   These works are essential for the long-term durability of the bridge.

Approximately 30 metres of kerb realignment works are also planned as part of the work programme.

Due to the extent of the repairs it will be necessary for the road to be closed at the bridge during the works.  Motorists will be required to use local alternative routes and diversions (see Document Section below).

Pedestrian diversions will be in place and they will be guided through the works when it is safe to do so.

The works:

A temporary full time closure will be necessary on a section of A130 White Hart Lane at Gablehays bridge for the duration of the works.

The closure will be implemented from 9pm on Friday 9 February and continue until the road reopens on Monday 19 February 2018 at the latest.

During this time the bridge will be impassable to all vehicles.

The work programme includes a period of time needed for the material to cure.  During this time there will be reduced activity on site.
Please note that these works are subject to suitable weather conditions.  Any changes to the programme will be reflected on local signage and this webpage.

What is involved and how may it affect you:

The road closure will apply to all vehicles 24 hours a day for the duration of the works.

Resident access to Oak Lodge Tye will only be possible from the northern end of White Hart Lane.

Access to New Hall School will be via Generals Lane for the duration of the works as The Avenue will be closed for the duration of the works.

Advance warning signs will be in place prior to the closure the road closure points will be staffed 24 hours a day to direct and assist road users as no vehicles will be permitted to pass over the bridge.

Emergency services and bus operators have been informed of the works to allow them to put alternative arrangements in place.

We would encourage motorists to allow extra time and plan journeys during these works, taking additional care when passing through the area.
