B1393 High Road / Theydon Road, Epping - traffic signal renewal

About the scheme

Arrangements have been made to replace the traffic signal equipment at the junction of B1393 High Road / Theydon Road, Epping.

The works

Works are due to start on Saturday 26 October 2019 to install the traffic signal equipment including underground cable ducts beneath the carriageway and footways.  The work is anticipated to take approximately two weeks to complete.

What is involved and how it may affect you

It will be necessary to close Theydon Road and Bell Common to vehicles at the junctions with B1393 High Road. Bell Common will be closed to help manage traffic flow along High Road. These closures will significantly reduce the time taken to complete the installation and to ease congestion caused by the works.  Access to properties will be maintained at all times via Ivy Chimneys Road.

Closures will be in force 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Working hours will be 8am to 11pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 1pm Saturday and Sunday.

Buses will be escorted through the closures during working hours.
