About the scheme

A programme of footpath maintenance is about to begin on Mapledene Avenue and surrounding areas in Hullbridge, to address defects and surface irregularities.

These works are a pre-treatment for future slurry sealing activities, that will provide a weather protection barrier to preserve the surface and improve skid resistance.  These works will ultimately extend the service life of our footpaths.

These pre-treatment activities will begin on 1 July 2024 and continue until mid-October 2024.

Areas currently identified for improvement include:

  • Mapledene Avenue
  • Thorpedene Avenue
  • Mayfield Avenue
  • Ashdene Close
  • Burnham Road
  • Cedar Drive

Significant defects in footway and kerbs will be addressed, as well as surface levelling. These works will be carried out in stages during the daytime, to minimise local inconvenience.

The slurry sealing programme will be carried out at a later date (to be communicated separately).

Works are due to start on 1 July 2024 with the mobilisation of the site team, with activities taking place Monday to Friday throughout the programme (no weekends are currently planned).

Clearway/No parking restrictions

Clearways, or no parking zones will be in place to deter vehicles from parking on the street where work activities are taking place. This is necessary to prevent delays that can be caused by restricted access to work area, or hinderance to traffic flows in the area. During these times we respectfully ask that residents seek alternative parking arrangements.

Further information

Residents directly affected by these works will be contacted directly. Updates, traffic management and access information will be reflected on local signage and this webpage as information becomes available.
