About the works

Machine surfacing improvements are scheduled for the B1008 New Street and Rectory Lane in Chelmsford, a key route to the university. These works will enhance the road condition, improving journeys for residents and businesses.

Temporary closures will be required overnight, and restrictions adjusted according to the team's location.  Activities will include removing and renewing the road surface, and adjusting manholes and gullies as necessary.

Where possible, additional road maintenance works will be carried out to reduce the need for future traffic restrictions.

How it will affect you

Work will be carried out on New Street and Rectory Lane, with appropriate traffic management in place, adjusted according to activities taking place. The work will be phased to minimise the amount of time spent in front of individual properties.

Work is due to start on 8 April and continue to 17 April 2025.  The team will be working overnight between the hours of 8pm and 5am, and will endeavour to carry out the noisiest works before 11pm, with quieter activities continuing for the remainder of the shift.
