Last chance to have your say on key principles of new transport strategy for Essex
Residents and businesses are being encouraged to respond as part of initial public consultation.
Essex residents, businesses and visitors are being encouraged to have their say on the key principles of a new strategy which will guide the future of transport in the county.
Essex County Council launched a first public consultation on its new Essex Transport Strategy, formally known as the Local Transport Plan, last month. The consultation closes on Sunday 22 September.
The consultation focuses on key themes and outcomes, and feedback will be used to help inform further development of the strategy.
The strategy will provide an overarching plan for transport across Essex and outline the council’s vision.
Councillor Tom Cunningham, Essex County Council’s Cabinet Member for Highways, Infrastructure and Sustainable Transport, said: “Transport is vital to our everyday lives. It underpins all we do, whether this be travelling to and from work, doing the school run, visiting the local shops, or moving goods and services.
“Our emerging Essex Transport Strategy will be influential in setting important transport priorities for Essex and unlocking future funding opportunities. It builds upon our Safer, Greener and Healthier visions, while reflecting the opportunities and challenges we now face in Essex.
“Your feedback on the key principles of the strategy is really important and will help guide us as we develop it further.
“Hundreds of people have already shared their views. This is your opportunity to shape what transport will look like in Essex in the future and I would encourage everyone to have their say before the consultation closes.”

A second consultation on the full draft strategy and a programme of planned investment in different parts of Essex is expected to take place early next year.
