Butt Lane, Maldon retaining wall works complete

Retaining wall replacement works on Butt Lane in Maldon (at the junction with Downs Road) are complete, with replanting works recently carried out to finish the scheme.

Prior to the improvements, the retaining wall required regular monitoring as it was in a deteriorating condition and leaning. 

To reduce future maintenance required by Essex Highways the wall needed to be removed and replaced, and to improve the design two smaller retaining walls were built in its place. 

Great care was taken during these works due to the proximity of both telecommunication cables and a medium pressure gas main, as well as the works affecting the adjoining property. 

During the project some additional works became necessary which extended the work programme, however they were successfully completed, with final landscaping undertaken to complete the scheme.
