Duffill bridge strengthening works complete

Strengthening works have been successfully completed on Duffill Bridge in Bicknacre.

With the support of a specialist concrete repair company, the weakened beam underneath the structure has been repaired increasing its service life.

During the works, sections of concrete were broken away and removed to reveal reinforcement bars under the structure. Moulds where then created, and from holes drilled into the structure from above, new structural concrete was poured into the temporary moulds until the concrete set. 

Props which were used prior to the repair will remain in place to provide additional support to the structure. All existing barriers have now been removed. The road over the bridge is now opened fully for two way traffic.
