St Andrew’s Avenue footpath / crossing point works
Part of the developing Colchester Rapid Transit System works, we will this month start to improve sections of St Andrew’s Avenue for pedestrians and cyclists.
This will see the footway on the northern side of St Andrew’s Avenue upgraded and widened to 2 metres in width, and a new 2 metre wide pavement will be installed on the southern side to join the existing footway.
A new signal-controlled Toucan Crossing (a type of crossing point that allows for pedestrians and cyclists to cross) will also be installed adjacent to The Chase, replacing the existing non-controlled informal crossing point.
The works are due to start this June running until August with work undertaken between 8am and 5pm. Two-way traffic lights will be in operation between the hours of 10am and 3pm
Due to these works, a 24 hour road closure will be in place on The Chase, with access available for residents.
