-
View of Broomfield Road in Chelmsford prior to the works
About the works
Machine surfacing improvements are scheduled for Broomfield Road, Rainsford Road and Coval Lane in Chelmsford, a key route in the city. These works will enhance the road condition, improving journeys for residents and businesses.
Temporary closures will be required overnight, with restrictions adjusted according to the team's location. Activities will include removing and renewing the road surface, and adjusting manholes and gullies as necessary.
Where possible, additional road maintenance works will be carried out to reduce the need for future traffic restrictions.
How it will affect you
Work is due to start on 12 May and will take place overnight in phases, between the hours of 8pm and 5am with the support of both temporary road closures and temporary traffic lights.
Roads will be clear at other times to allow normal traffic flows to resume.
The team will endeavour to carry out the noisiest works before 11pm each night, with quieter activities continuing for the remainder of the shift. Traffic management will be adjusted throughout the programme to minimise the amount of time spent in front of individual properties. Residents located within a road closure will be supported to gain access to their driveways, however please be aware that delays may occur depending on activities taking place and whether materials have set. No access will be permitted to through-traffic when road closures are in place.
Appropriate diversions will be in place and, when appropriate, Bus Gates will be temporarily suspended overnight.
Pedestian access will be maintained throughout these works.
